Why do wire ropes need lubrication?

Wire ropes are made of multiple strands twisted together, with many tiny gaps inside. Lubrication helps to:

? Reduce friction between strands and wires

Quick tips for GENMA wire rope lubrication

Most GENMA machines use galvanized wire ropes, which come with initial lubrication inside. But over time, that lubricant dries out — so regular checks and top-ups are needed.

? Interval: Check every 1,000 hours — more often in harsh conditions (high salt, dust, etc.).

? How to tell: Look at the rope under load. Does it still feel oily? If it looks dry, it's time to lubricate. Contact your GENMA service engineer or use a recommended wire rope lubricant.

Four steps to get it right
